Here are 3 of our officers with their own personal stories:
I established Friends of Castleford Library in 1998 to give the people of Castleford an opportunity to have their say on the future of Castleford Library and to be active members of the community.
This group will help enable the community to have access to projects and activities within our Library for the benefit of everyone in Castleford.
I joined FOCAL after meeting the group through my role in the library service where, as an officer, one of my roles was to liaise with and help friend's groups within the service. I had the pleasure to work with the Cas group and, as I was nearing retirement from the Council, volunteered to join them after seeing the work they had done supporting the library and the community.
I have been a Founder member since 1998 even before I became a local Ward Councillor.
I believe that libraries are a very important and valuable local asset and are an essential part of the community delivering not only books but services necessary for modern life.
We work hard to support our library in every way we can.
